We’ve (unfortunately) reached the one-year anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine.
What was once thought to be a quick decapitation strike by Russia on a multi-axis invasion has turned into a fierce conflict that has resulted in staggering Russian losses. Some estimates put Russian casualties at 146,000—with analysts claiming this equates to more combat losses for Moscow than all of its deployments since World War II combined.
Ukraine has, by some estimates, suffered over 100,000 casualties as well.
So, how did Ukraine get to this point? We spent the last year talking with experts and on-the-ground volunteers asking this very question. We also examined what may happen as the war grinds on.
